Delighted to get that, and his last run told us he was back to his old self. He wants it a bit softer but it was lovely and safe there. He loved being in the bunch and getting a bit of cover. He never picked the stick up and he ran with great enthusiasm. That will give him a bit of confidence and set him up for next year. We were quiet for the last week or so and just backed off them a bit. The horses are well but it was nice that he confirmed that.

The horses are as fit as we can have them at home,. Part of me didn't want to run him and the other part said well we've had all of last season off . We literally couldn't get him to raise a gallop at home. He was a Group 2 winner but we gelded him at the end of the season and kept him going. His work was okay but was like we were seeing at two, without getting carried away. The only box we didn't tick today was the heavy ground but my theory is once they turn four I'm running them and if they don't handle it we won't ask them to do it again. The wheels are back on the wagon and we'll probably aim for that Listed race in Navan (Cork Stakes on April 7th). We'll see what the handicapper does and we'll tread lightly. If he gets back to any semblance of what he was at two we'll have fun with him this summer.

He did what we thought he could do. That's not being cocky, we like him but you never know when you have Ballydoyle to deal with. We thought if King Electric could run a race then he had a huge chance. We have Psychedelic Funk but we've always said he's not the only one. He went to Royal Ascot but the ground went against him and he ran a great race to finish third as he was the first horse off the bridle. This horse is still only half a horse and we were worried he was still not mature. I was talking with Colin beforehand and was saying 'have we got this wrong' as King Electric was shorter in the betting but he said no. He got a terrible fall earlier in the day and it just goes to show you that it can go one way or the other so quickly in racing. I'm delighted both horses and jockeys were alright. I said at Navan that winning a Railway was as important to me as winning a Coventry. They are both Group 2's. I made a stupid mistake taking this horse to England (Newbury). It was pure greed and I only took him over to have another horse with Endless Drama. I don't like standing around all day for one race and it wasn't fair on him to run him but it didn't do him any harm and he learned from it. We'll look at the Phoenix Stakes now with him and Psychedelic Funk.
