Hey Johnny swooped past the three market principals to land Ballinrobe's bumper for father and son Tom and Charlie Mullins. Tue 25th May
He went off the boil last year and was fresh and well from the run at Punchestown, when I didn't dream he'd finish third. I thought he'd need the run and he did. Charlie was good on him, was very cool, as he is. He didn't say anything about the ground today and I'd say the ground doesn't matter to him and two miles suits at the moment. The owner (Joe Fitzpatrick) wants to have a runner at Cheltenham in November and there's a novice handicap there, if he fits into it.

After race at Thurles Sun, 22nd Jan, 2023 (1st)
I was finding it hard to get him fit at home so I ran him in a graded race the last day and the whole idea was I was hoping he might get a little penalty to go for the Dublin Racing Festival. I had my eye on the two-mile handicap hurdle at the DRF since Christmas. It has worked out today as he won his race, will have his penalty so will get in. He was a strange ride and we had to do that today as we didn't want to risk him falling asleep out the back. Danny said he will be away and alright in a big field, so we'll drop him in the next day. He's a half-brother to Sir Gerhard, so hopefully will continue to progress.

It turned into a sprint and Charlie said he actually loved it walking. He never has a problem settling.
