Things weren't working out for him early in the summer when he wasn't getting the rub of the green. We went chasing with him, that didn't work out and for a horse who jumps so well, you'd swear he never saw a fence in his life at Tramore one day. We decided to give him a little break to freshen him up and it worked. The ground is lovely, but is as quick as he wants it. Hopefully there will be another one in him before he gets a break for the winter. He is a small handy horse who is one of the favourites in the yard, is really genuine and a child would ride him.

We were very apprehensive about the ground. It was his first time running on it. I just didn't know how he'd go on it but Hugh said he travelled away on it fine. He is not an overly big horse and I suppose we had to try him on it sometime. I had pulled him out of Galway there last week because of the ground. We are not too far from here and while there was a lot of rain forecast for yesterday it didn't arrive. In fairness, they have done a good job with the track and there is plenty of grass on it. We were happy enough that it was safe so we said we would take our chance. He did it nicely with the step up in trip and he has course form. We gave him a little bit of a break after he finished second at Punchestown to Call Me Dolly, where he was beaten by just a short-head. We are glad to come back on a winning note today. We will tip away with him now and see what the handicapper gives him. HIs owners are here today. Alfred (Ma) owns the Good World restaurant in Dublin and it's great that they can be here today.

I was a bit iffy this morning about running and, to be honest, I came into the office to pull him out but when I saw the non-runners I gave Ricky a call and he convinced me to run him!. We aren't too far away and there was a lot of rain and he ran here in March on similar type ground and he was a bit iffy on it. He's the yard favourite, is a lovely little horse and is always in right order, so it's great to get a win out of him. It's not that he doesn't handle soft ground, he does, he is a little bit small and in the winter he struggles against the better quality horses. We were hoping for summer soft ground today, not this.
