I was happy with him to do that after such a long lay-off. Hopefully, now he stays sound so that we can keep him that way. He popped over a few hurdles and a few fences yesterday morning and I was happy with him. The conditions of this race suited him a bit better than last week (Red Mills Chase at Gowran Park). I think he’s still young enough to put in a career best over fences. He just has to overcome this first run and come back sound and we’ll see where we go.

I think he’s still young enough to put in a career best over fences. He just has to overcome this first run and come back sound and we’ll see where we go. Paul felt looking at the make up of the race that there would be plenty of pace and we didn’t feel there was much point in taking them on after such a break. He settled lovely and even though he’s free going, once you settle him in he listens and responds to you. We were happy to use those tactics and hoped that if he got around safe and sound that he’d be the fastest horse in the straight which he was. He’s entered in Cheltenham. It may be a big ask on his second run but we’ll have a look. It may come a bit soon. It will be all about how he comes out of the race in the next week, and we’ll probably look for easier options for the time being.

I thought it was a huge performance to give that weight to a filly that no one has got close to all season. Coming back after an 11-month break with only a three week gap, I was worried all week that I was asking him too much to come back too soon. Everything was against him and he still pulled it out of the bag. I thought it was an awesome performance. He loves jumping and has obviously got an engine. We could have waited another few weeks and gone to Punchestown. We’ll probably come back here for the Dublin Racing Festival and then the spring Festivals.

For a horse with such little experience I was very impressed with him. He was very lazy over the first few fences, very careful. Patrick said once he had to get down to race over the last four he was much better, he was like a professional. We’ll look for a nice novice chase with him. We’ll see how he comes out of that before we make a plan for his next run.

It was a nice performance. Two good horses came up the straight there and hopefully we’ll hear more about both of them. He’ll improve from that run, and we’ll look forward to Christmas.

He just ran too free on his first two runs and putting a hood on him has changed him, as have more drastic tactics in holding him up. He is lovely at home, but he takes a pull. In a race he gets a little bit upset so I think jumping will suit him a lot better. We will probably go for the Champion Bumper at Punchestown now and maybe the same for the other horse, Appreciate It.

We totally changed tactics with him today and it made a big difference to how he finished out his race. He looked a decent horse,. He's probably booked a ticket to go to Cheltenham but I'll have a word with connections, they are not here today, and we'll see how he comes out of the race. Maybe we could plan an Irish campaign for him instead, we'll see what they want to do. He's a horse that has shown us a lot of ability at home but he was just using himself up too much in his previous races and we just decided to settle him today.
