He’s always shown me he’s good. From the first day he came into the yard he was one that I marked down as ‘he could be anything’. He’s doing everything right. The race fell apart and I don’t know what happened Gallic Warrior. I didn’t get a chance to talk to Paul yet. He’s so laidback in the stable and so laidback in a race. He does everything Mark asks him to do and you could run him over two and a half miles or a Gold Cup trip. I’ll have a word with JP and Frank and see what they want to do.

I think Mark did a great job to get him settled and I think he will learn a lot from that race, I’m just relieved. It’s all in front of him and when Willie decided to go straight chasing with him I had no objection, it sounded good to me. It has been vindicated. That was very impressive, it was a Gold Cup performance potentially, but he’s been like that since the day he came into the yard. I thought he’d win the Champion Bumper last year, then of course JP came and beat us with A Dream To Share, but that’s how good I thought he was. The fact that he was a ready-made steeplechaser from the first day he came into the yard is why I skipped hurdling with him and I’m very happy we did that now. I think JP had a nice little wager for the staff earlier in the season on this fellow for this race, so he more or less made the decision. He’s a beauty of a jumper and he gave Mark a tremendous ride, I’d say it was some thrill riding him round there. He’s just a real gentleman of a horse, that’s what he is. I’ve seen the potential. He’s like a child’s pony in the stable, he’s got the temperament for it. You know the plan (for next season), he could start off in the John Durkan, then run at Christmas, then the Dublin Racing Festival and back here. That’s the bones of the plan, but he has to stay right and JP might have other ideas, so I’ll have to have a chat with him about that.

The race fell apart and I don’t know what happened Gaelic Warrior. I didn’t get a chance to talk to Paul yet. He’s so laid-back in the stable and so laid-back in a race. He does everything Mark asks him to do and you could run him over two and a half miles or a Gold Cup trip. He’s got the temperament to go with it, too, which is what you want in those three-mile chasers, he’s a very calm horse. I’ll have a word with JP and Frank (Berry) and see what they want to do.

He has Cheltenham bumper form from last year. He looks like a chaser, he certainly looked like one there, so we decided to skip his novice hurdle year and just go straight chasing,. Today is the reason that I hoped we'd be right. He's a horse I've loved since the first day he came into the stable. I think he could go the whole way, with a bit of luck — you need a lot of luck in this game.

That fella took all day to get going. He was one of the favourite horses I bought last year, I loved him from the day he came,. He does things a little more slowly than other horses but he got the job done. That experience today, especially what he did in the last 100 yards, will stand to him. I think he might make a half decent bumper horse before he goes jumping. It's been an extraordinary day, our planning department at home deserves all the credit for this, putting the horses in the right races and having them right. Between David Casey, Ruby (Walsh) and Patrick picking out different horses for different races and then just getting ready for the race, it's a huge team effort. Ben Delmar, who is our head travelling man, getting them all right. Getting the right numbers on the right horses in the Paddy Power is a feat in itself. I have to thank everyone, especially owners as without them we wouldn't be here. A huge thanks to them for having faith in us to have days like this.
