We got it done eventually. I was sure the ground was better coming here and even when I got here, but Shane said it was testing on the inner. We had to go the long way around but it paid off.

That was a struggle for him. Pat (Smullen) wanted to make the pace and they went a long way clear,. He just does enough and it was the same in his bumpers. He'll go for a mile-and-a-half handicap at Fairyhouse next week. The trip today is probably a bit short. He's a panicky horse. We couldn't get the bridle on him and that's why he was so late going to the start, but he's very honest. He'd be very unlikely to go hurdling as he's had a problem with his hind leg before.

Donatis Comet is very tough but isn't really a national hunt horse as he had a problem with a hock previously. He is unlikely to run at Galway but may get an entry in the 1m4f amateur maiden.

Donatis Comet is Flat bred was due to run on the Flat last year but panicked in the stalls. He can be a bit hot if he gets upset so we decided to run him in bumpers instead. He's good at this job and is tough. Jason (McKeown) always said he would be better on better ground and hopefully he will have a nice future.

He's a nice horse and ran well at Cork last time. Jason said he came on a good bit from that run,. He'll probably end up being a Flat horse. I've tried him before in stalls but he panicked and I thought this was a good way to get him relaxed. He could go back on the Flat now.
