Diggin Deep does just that for Cullinan
The veteran Diggin Deep (14/1) made the most of his light weight to land the Club Mixers Handicap Chase under 7lb claimer Cian Cullinan. Mon 02nd MayFences win for Fahey farriers
Eleven year old Diggin Deep gained a first fences win today, narrowly landing Sligo's Owenmore Handicap Chase for farrier pair, trainer Paul Fahey and owner Killian Carroll. Wed 15th SepDiggin Deep brings his homework to the track
Diggin Deep lived up to his name as he saw out the three miles out best in the qualified riders' handicap hurdle in Clonmel. Fri 11th JunBusy Molly lands hefty punt in fine style
The Tramore Farmers Market Handicap Hurdle saw Molly Wedger land a gamble — 20/1 early offers, into 7/2 joint favourite — after an eye-catching third placing at this venue just last evening. Sat 05th JunFamily success for the O'Sullivans with Super Citizen

After the heavy fog that enveloped the track earlier, appropriately enough we had two grey winners on the day at Thurles. Following a one two for greys in the 12.45 with Mick The Jiver beating Smadynium, the day was completed by the mare, Queeny (Ricky Doyle up) doing the business in the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle. We said we would come up and if the ground wasn't suitable, we were going to bring him back home. I walked the track and I was happy with the ground. He just wants it as quick as you can get it. The race went all against plan because the young lad lost his iron and when he went to go get his Iron back, the horse grabbed the bit. We were absolutely convinced he would never get home from where he took off. He said he travelled the whole way with him and stayed on to the line. He had to go to plan B and be cool and he didn't panic. He jumped one fence there without an iron I think so he did well to get it all together in the end. He comes in and rides out for me. He's an old horse, he's 12 now so it is great. We are totally dependent on a few tracks and the ground for him. If the ground is right, he'll go. We haven't ruled out a trip across the water with him, we might go across to Perth with him for a bit of fun.

He was working seriously well but disappointed in Tramore last week when we were absolutely disgusted. On Sunday we put a tongue-tie and blinkers on him and he worked like the way he was working going to Tramore. The ground is proper quick and he hasn't got that for a while but it was the blinkers, in my mind, that made the difference - we won't be leaving them off him anyway. He was a cheap horse, has done his job and has the option over fences now as well. Killian Carroll owns him and works with me as a farrier but not in the yard. It's his first horse, we said we'd have a bit of fun and it's great. There's lads that spend an awful lot of money and never get into a winners' enclosure.
