He's back to himself. He was very good all week and he trained very well. I thought I had him very ready the last couple of times and he disappointed so this week I decided I was just going to get him here at 95 percent and I think he's better like that. He's been pleasing me at home doing that so that's what I'll be doing for the future and hopefully I can get him across the water in that sort of form. He doesn't seem to bring his A-game when he gets on the ferry, whatever it is. Maybe I'll go undercooked rather than properly cooked the next time. Maybe the travelling takes something out of him as well. We always think a day on the boat is like a piece of work so maybe we'll do one bit less at home with him. He has never brought the sort of form he has brought around here to England.

At the back of every fence I was able to get a breather, he was jumping so well. The only reason we don't wear these boots normally is for weight and I'd like to thank everyone and a lot of people did a lot of hard work to get me back. I think they were just on song today, both himself and Paul. They gave an exhibition of jumping and racing. He just had horses out of their comfort zone from very early on.

It was a very good performance. I was a little bit worried going to the third last if Paul had anything left in the tank as he seemed to be niggling,. After the second last I thought he wasn't putting the race to bed or anything. Paul felt that he was in command at all stages. He just wanted to get down to the last, jump it, and then go. The end result was very good. I was worried over the third and second last but Paul said he was just asleep underneath him. They didn't hang around. Min set off to make the pace and then Notebook joined him. Notebook was probably just slicker in the air and Min paid the penalty for that later on. Min seems to be fine, Patrick got off and thought he was fine. It didn't work out for him today but the other guy was awesome.

I was really pleased with that. He showed a great spring in his jumping and really attacked his fences. After the last fence he flew around the final bend and was then idling a bit.

Cilaos Emery has been a very fragile horse. He’s missed time here and there, but he beat Melon as a novice. He used to be very keen, and that was his downfall, but he’s settling much better now. We’e not quite sure how good he is. Min is the one they have to beat, because he’s the one who’s gone and done it. The other two are stepping up. I don’t envy Paul having to choose between them.

He was electric jumping. Jumping those fences down the back he was so slick and so fast. He was getting a length or a length-and-a-half at every fence without any effort,. Paul said he just arrived up beside Min at the third last and he didn't want to hang around so just kept going. He idled, which is a good sign I think. It just shows how much he improved since Christmas. All that worked out and he was here today in top form. It's a nice prize to win. Min was the horse to beat in the race. It was a tough choice for Paul to make, looking at the race afterwards you'd say maybe it wasn't. To me Min was the one to beat but he didn't get things his own way with Ornua up there. If Ornua hadn't been there it would have been a much closer contest I think. Chacun Pour Soi looks the horse of the future and I think that's why Paul made the decision, he thought this was the horse that was coming up. The first day I brought him up here for Cheltenham trials day last year I let him go around with a few of ours. I said to Danny, who rode him then, to follow around but after two fences he was in front and led all the Cheltenham horses. It was absolutely eye-opening. Once every two or three years you get a horse coming up the gallop that shows you something that he shouldn't be able to do and that's what he did that day. First day here over fences he had handicap chasers and Grade One horses behind him and he was a novice. I said 'wow we could have something here' and he's turned out

he's very likeable. It was like riding a handicapper. He made one mistake at the ditch down the back but he sorted himself out and you couldn't be any more pleased with him. He's really exciting, he's a good horse. He obviously had a big reputation coming to us but they don't always live up to that. They found a good one there anyway. Hopefully he can keep improving and building on that. He went his own gallop there and was doing everything at his ease.
