It was a disaster in Down Royal the last day (when she was withdrawn), it was nobody's fault and was just the way it unfolded. She was left until last and got loose and upset and it didn't work - it was one of those things. I went down to the start myself today and she was tricky again but the stalls men did a fantastic job, because most people would have given up. They put the hood on her, I led her in and they gave her a good push. Danny was riding last year with Tubs (McNally's son) at the pony racing and is an exceptional talent. Claiming 10 (pounds) is like gold. We wanted to get a nice run into her today to build confidence and the plan was to get a nice run and everything else was a bonus. We'll give her a few weeks now and pick something, it could be anything - you wouldn't know with me.

She looked well enough in on her hurdle mark compared to her chase mark if that was realistic.

I was delighted with that. That's her second run for me, her first was at Gowran Park and a lot of people thought it was very disappointing but I hadn't killed her with work because she had bled in Cork. I thought she did everything right in Gowran, she travelled into the race nicely but got a bit tired. We thought she might have run a bit better but I was happy enough. I haven't killed her with work at home, just trying to keep her fresh, as we're only learning the ropes with her. She can be a wee bit tricky at home. We did a nice bit of work last Tuesday and came here fairly confident. If she translated her hurdles form she had 10lb up her sleeve, if she was good over a fence. She looked nice today but in her beginners chases she was landing on top of fences and putting holes in fences. She fell on her handicap debut over fences. It was just about getting around today and seeing where we were at. She did it really well but I wouldn't read too much into that race as it was a complete farce. The 13-year-old went off and we were probably lucky enough she went with him. If we hadn't gone with him we might have been in trouble. Donagh (Meyler) was on the ball and followed him while the rest of them were maybe asleep and let them go. I wouldn't read too much into that and I hope the handicapper isn't too hard on her.

She liked the ground and travelled well. I was a little bit worried early as she was jumping big after a couple of runs over fences. In fairness to her it was her first run in a handicap hurdle for a while. She’s gone away and done it well but she’s beaten nothing.

My horses were under a cloud over the winter and I’m not really sure what was going on. They have been running well lately and this mare had been working way better than she was over the winter. The last few weeks she was staying with Declaration Of War and I fancied her today because of it. It’s great to get another winner for my uncle ((Paul Dunne). She’s a very difficult filly and had to come today with a companion as she starts fretting. We’ve learned how to manage her. She handles the ground and stayed the trip well. I only knew at 9 this morning that we were going to get a run. I said a prayer to get in and thankfully she did!
