A smart front-running performance by Cormackstown, who had returned from a 27-month injury absence at Wexford last month.

He had the well-backed Monty Blue under pressure two furlongs out and soon asserted from that rival.

Kenlon threw down a challenge late on but couldn't peg back the winner.

Trainer Willie Mullins will try and win a maiden hurdle next month with the gelding if the ground "stays nice".

Kenlon had shown some promise on his debut at Limerick and ran really well here.

Tracking the leaders he moved into third three furlongs out and stayed on into second at the furlong pole, closing on the leader to the line.

Polar Speed, stable-mate of the winner, moved into fourth three furlongs out and stayed on at the one pace when ridden two out. This was a better effort and he could be a force in a bumper at one of the smaller tracks.

Monty Blue was well backed in the morning (2/1 to 5/4). He opened 7/4 on course but the money came again and he returned 5/4f.

He tracked the leaders but could find no more from two furlongs out and kept on at one pace.

Fairy Field made an encouraging debut. Settled midfield he moved into fifth two furlongs out and kept on under pressure.

Lagganstown was backed early (11/4 to 7/4) before drifting out to 3/1. He tracked the leaders before weakening out of it over two furlongs out.

Thecoolcleanhero was a non-runner due to a stone bruise.
