An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race following two instances of interference inside the final furlong.

In the first instance, Ventura Diamond (IRE), placed second, ridden by Paul Hanagan, interfered with Mamba Wamba (IRE), placed third, ridden by Tony Hamilton, which in turn interfered with Dandalla (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by Ben Curtis.

The first incident was found to be accidental in that Ventura Diamond (IRE) had rolled slightly right-handed in a tightly packed field putting pressure onto Mamba Wamba (IRE), which in turn caused Curtis on Dandalla (IRE) to take a check.

In the second instance of interference, Ventura Diamond (IRE) again interfered with Mamba Wamba (IRE).

Hanagan was cautioned for careless riding in that he had failed to take sufficient steps to prevent his horse drifting right-handed, causing Mamba Wamba (IRE) to be short of racing room on the rail.

The Stewards ordered the placings to remain unaltered as they deemed the ground and momentum lost by Mamba Wamba (IRE) being carried slightly off her intended line in the first incident and her rider having to take a slight check in the second incident, was less than the official margin of 1 length at the line.

The performance of Last Empire (GB), which started favourite but finished fifth, was considered.

The representative of Kevin Ryan reported that the mare may be coming into season.

Her explanation was noted and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Last Empire (GB) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
