I was a bit afraid coming here after not doing a lot with him since his last run - with Cheltenham in mind. However he is enjoying his racing and he was very good today. His jumping was a lot sweeter. I'll leave a decision as to what race he goes for at Cheltenham until I see the ground. The form book suggests the Champion Chase is his race. We would be looking towards taking on Big Zeb again then. If the ground was very lively though he could go for the Ryanair.

It just goes to prove the old adage that if you're not in you can't win. He didn't jump well early and he only got into it in the last half mile. His style of racing suits being dropped in like that though. I'd imagine he could go straight across the water (to Cheltenham). I was thinking of the Ryanair but we'll leave him in the two (the Champion Chase as well) and see what happens. I thought he could be a bit flat coming here off the back of recent runs but maybe he is better suited to having a run rather than being trained.

only Golden Silver's rating got him through that. He looked in trouble before the straight and Paul said he wasn't enjoying the ground which is very sticky. He is not a horse to ‘chase' one in front either. he'll run next in the Tied Cottage Chase at Punchestown in a few weeks time where he'll be joined by J'y Vole and Scotsirish too. He'll be entered in the Ryanair Chase and Champion Chase at Cheltenham but is more likely to run in the ‘Ryanair' as he is about 10lbs short of the standard for the Champion Chase.

Paul was very good on him. I thought he was a bit far back but Paul knows the horse very well. He'll go for the Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Chase at Leopardstown at Christmas now.

Unfortunately Mr and Mrs O'Leary couldn't be here because of a family bereavement. Mrs O'Leary's brother died so condolences to them,. He just keeps improving. We decided to change the tactics and wait a bit longer with him rather than force the pace. It paid off. We thought after Cheltenham that we made too much use of him so we decided to see if his class would come through and it did. He's really enjoying his racing. Scotsirish was a bit unlucky after making a mistake two out. It was a good effort considering he carried top-weight in the Topham at Aintree last time. Barker was also a bit unlucky to get a fall as he was running a good race.

He just loves this ground - it's the key to him,. It's nice compensation for Cheltenham. Hopefully I'll try and get him back for Punchestown if I can. The Champion Chase is there for him. Jayo just didn't jump the second last and that put him out of the race.

Paul felt he travelled better in this ground today which was a bit of a surprise as we had considered him something of a mudlark. He is a horse that is improving all the time and we will make an entry for him in the Champion Chase at Cheltenham.

The trip and ground was ideal but he'll come on a lot from it. There should be a lot more to come from him as Paul said he wasn't doing a whole lot during the race. We got a bit of a fright at the last and I ended up shouting at the screen when Paul started easing up.
