I'm thrilled, he's a lovely old horse,. We gave him a break when I got him as he had a few little things. I get a great amount of pleasure out of seeing an old horse like that running well. Native Jack won the cross-country in Cheltenham for me when he was 12 and he went back at 14, having not run for a year, and was second. It's lovely to see an old horse like that sound and enjoying being in a race. He's been running really well, we sort of let him improve himself. He was third the last day and I thought he ran a cracker, it's great to see him winning. We'll run him away on summer ground and he might get retired come the winter.

Tom (Doran, owner) is a real Mayo man, so we said we'd sooner come to Ballinrobe to win, than finish third or fourth at Galway,. He'll likely still go to Galway. He's probably better in a race like that with top weight, though, than in a better race with a lower weight. Kevin gave him a very, very cool ride there.

He's a not a bad little horse. Tom (owner Tom Doran) is stopping me going chasing with him but he'll probably go chasing sooner rather than later. He jumps really well and handles that ground. I'd say he'll handle any sort of ground but the softer the ground the more he'll have to come back in trip. Tom wanted to go for the two-and-a-half but I had Stormey in it and wanted to split them up. I thought I might have two winners. He'll get a few pounds for that. We'll see where we go now, Listowel is Tom's thing. I'm delighted for Tom because he sent me all the horses out of Gordon Elliott's which was a big ask. We have a couple of nice horse to come for Listowel. He's a great owner and great with me. He helps pick the races. Some trainer's don't agree with that but I think it's great because nothing gets by you. I love an owner telling me 'we'll go for that'. The horses just weren't firing the last month or two but thankfully we've had two winners this week and they are starting to turn a corner. There was nothing major wrong, they weren't scoping wrong or coughing, but when you let them out in the field they were walking out instead of galloping and rolling.

I was afraid he might not handle the ground but he did. I'm delighted for Tom (Doran) as it's the first winner he has bred. He wants a trip and as he handles this ground we may think about going for a winners bumper.
