That's brilliant. We thought the handicapper might have had him but then he might have a lot of those horses. He was running in claimers not that long ago and that was genuinely the level he was at. He's actually run well on his last couple of runs. When he won over two miles they hacked that day and when we tried him over it again he didn't stay. Shane said a mile-and-a-half is his best trip, a mile-and-a-quarter or a mile-and-a-half is fine for him.

Derek O’Connor told us he was nearly there after running on the beach (at Laytown) and he’s never looked back since. We ran him over two miles because he was working slow but since then he’s been getting quicker and quicker. He’s starting to realise the potential that he had. That’s 20 winners for the year for us and 14 up here. We never have more than about 16 riding out so it’s been a brilliant year.

Denis Hogan had this fella as a three-year-old and he was convinced he'd win a Triumph Hurdle. They thought that much of him there that they thought he might actually be a Lockinge horse as a four-year-old. He ran at Listowel and got a horrendous dose of pneumonia after it. He lost condition, he used to work alright at home but couldn't finish anything out. We were actually happy enough with his last run, he stayed at it and that was the first time he actually stayed going. Derek O'Connor rode him twice and said 'don't give up on him' as he was giving him a proper feel. He said once he gets a trip and things fall right with him it's just a confidence issue, once he gets his confidence he'll go and do a job somewhere. It's brilliant that it happened tonight.
