Everything happened well for him today. He always travels but doesn't find much off the bridle. The ground was a bit better today and that probably helped. He was always going to win a big one one day and we can look at all the good staying handicaps now. He just needs to land there on the line but in fairness to him he's earned plenty of place money before. It wasn't until he passed the line today that I was happy!. Joe (Moran) drove the lorry for us for years and he has a share in him. Fran Whelan has a steel company in Duncormick and Davy Roe is a vegetable man down around that part of the country.

things worked out for Cootamundra today, he got the gaps. Lads have been knocking him saying he doesn't find a lot but he just has a great cruising pace, travels terrifically well and keeps going at that - he would lie up in a Champion Hurdle!

when Sligo fell, he snapped the reins from Ruby's hands. However he had the right man on his back!. Cootamundra has been threatening to win for a long time and will be kept on the go over hurdles during the summer.
