3:40pm There's the the usual eccentricity to this event with the 2009 and 2010 winners renewing rivalries. Shin A Vee won in 2009 but was narrowly beaten by COOL WARRIOR the following year and, while Derek O'Connor is a notable booking, Shin A Vee has been absent for 772 days and is now passed over. Preference is for 12 year old COOL WARRIOR, who at least has proven fitness on his side. The other 14 runners have mustered just 10 point to points wins between them and finding a form alternative to either of the two previous winners is difficult. Ten year old Norwich Flyer has three point to point wins to his name though and may play a prominent roll while Enniskillen, who worringly is still a maiden point to pointer, ran ok in the Ladies Cup on Tuesday and has minor claims. The Begrudger is a dual point to point winner a long time ago but hasn't shown anything worth mentioning recently. (TW)

I didn't think he could win two (Irish Gold Cups). He was in good form but I was just hoping to be in the first four. I told Mark to ride him to finish, and it worked. I think he won despite the ground, and if he was up with the pace I don’t think he would have got home. Going to the last you could see he was finding a new lease of life, and I thought he had a chance then. It’s lovely for Mark as he’s done a lot of the ground work.

It's a great finish to the year. He's always been consistent . we just have to freshen him up and bring him back and he delivers. He deserves a holiday now and we'll see what happens next year. The fall of the year will tell us a lot. He's a very easy horse to train once we discovered how to train him. Every horse is different and he likes a little break after his races. He came with his run a little too soon at Fairyhouse (in the Drinmore when second to Don Cossack) .

That ground was ideal, it wasn't too soft. He's a horse with a year's experience and he keeps improving all the time. His owner has great patience which helps a lot. He runs well fresh so if he goes to Cheltenham I doubt he'll run beforehand.

It's nice to have a horse like him and he'd have liked the ground a bit drier. Today's win is some compensation for missing the big hurdle on Thursday. Looking at the winner of that though (Rebel Fitz), I'm not sure if we'd have beaten him.

To be honest he's surprised me as I didn't expect him to jump so well. The plan was to give him a good look at his hurdles as he's so inexperienced. He's a promising horse, and hopefully there is more to come. He's really a chaser.

He ran a lovely race on his debut and it brought him on a good bit. Hopefully we will find something for him now before long. He is by the right stallion and it's a pity he is gone (King's Theatre, who died just last month).
