Finalshot (GB) wore earplugs which were removed leaving the Parade Ring.

An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Somekindofstar (IRE), ridden by Maxime Tissier and trained by Lucy Wadham, which was held up in rear throughout before staying on under apparent tender handling in the home straight to finish second, beaten by 9 lengths.

The rider and the representative of the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.

The rider stated that his instructions were to get Somekindofstar (IRE) relaxed and jumping well and ride the race as he found it.

He added that he had to squeeze the gelding along in order to keep in contact with the field and that as the pace quickened he had been slightly denied a clear run approaching the home turn, after which Somekindofstar (IRE) had stayed on past tired horses in the straight and in his opinion obtained the best possible placing.

The trainer’s representative stated that he was happy with the ride given, but was unaware of the trainer’s instructions.

Their explanations were noted and Wadham was fined £290 for failing to inform her representative of the rider’s instructions.
