Leaving the stalls, the winner, Queen Of Burgundy (GB), jumped slightly right bumping Apatite (GB), placed fifth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Queen Of Burgundy (GB).
The winner, Queen Of Burgundy (GB), appeared to show an improvement in form compared with its previous run at Newcastle on 21 February 2022, where the mare finished seventh of nine, beaten 6 lengths.
Michael Appleby’s representative explained that Queen Of Burgundy (GB) appreciated the step- up in trip to 1m from 6f and benefitted from a more positive ride on this occasion.
The mare was routine tested.
Following the race, Andrew Mullen reported that Apatite (GB), placed fifth, ran too free.
