Having reviewed recordings of the false start, the Starters were satisfied that no riders should be reported for contravening the starting procedures.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference from half a furlong out, involving the winner, DEFI D’OUDAIRIES (FR) ridden by Philip Armson and Liffeydale Dreamer (IRE) placed second, ridden by Tom Midgley.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved DEFI D’OUDAIRIES (FR)’s placing as Armson allowed his horse to drift left-handed under a right-handed drive towards the rail, intimidating and carrying Liffeydale Dreamer (IRE) off her intended line for several horses’ widths as well as making light contact on a number of occasions, to be beaten a short head at the line.
Having heard the evidence from both riders and reviewed footage of the incident the Stewards were satisfied that, with a straight run to the line, Liffeydale Dreamer (IRE) would have finished in front of DEFI D’DOUDAIRIES (FR) and revised the placings as follows: first: Liffeydale Dreamer (IRE), second: DEFI D’OUDAIRIES, third: Ennistown (GB), fourth: Sammylou (IRE).
Armson was suspended for 2 days for careless riding for failing to prevent his mount from drifting left.
