An enquiry was held to consider why John Spearing was running Clear Spring (IRE) here at Epsom on going described as Good to Firm, Good in places, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Brighton on 18 June 2019 on ground with the same official description.
The representative of John Spearing explained that the going was Good, Good to Firm in places when they had declared Clear Spring (IRE) to run, but the going had changed after they had left to travel to Epsom.
As the gelding had made the journey they were happy for him to take his chance on this occasion.
Following the race, Callum Shepherd reported that Real Estate (IRE), which finished last of seven runners, had no more to give.
