Following the race, Page Fuller reported that Vieux Lille (IRE) blundered badly at the ditch in the back straight on the penultimate circuit, causing the reins to go over the gelding’s head and then snapped when stood on by Vieux Lille (IRE).
She therefore felt it was safer to dismount than continue in the saddle.
