Due to a malfunction with the starting mechanism, this race was started by flag.
The winner Canelo (IRE) appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Kempton on 7 February 2020 where the gelding finished last of the eleven runners, beaten by 72 ½ lengths.
The representative of Alan King’s explanation that Canelo (IRE) jumped better on this occasion, was noted; the gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, the representative of Kim Bailey reported that El Presente (GB), which was pulled up, was unsuited by the going, which was officially described as Heavy, Soft in places on this occasion and would prefer less testing conditions.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Mr Mcgo (IRE), placed third, lost its left-fore and left-hind shoes.
