He is just improving a little bit. It's hard on the apprentices just using hands and heels as he is a bit of a lazy horse, but he was good there. I thought he was never going to get there. I'm delighted and we will look for another handicap and we might step him up in trip as he saw that out well. He has enough size to go jumping but we will take it one step at a time. An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards (85 = 10st)
Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won. Any horse rated above 85 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 10st. Subsequently, the excess over 85 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 85 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
Riders - Apprentices who are apprenticed to trainers in Ireland only and who have not lost the right to claim the 10lb or 7lb allowance under Rule 69 and who will not be allowed to carry whips. Allowances (up to and including 21st August and which are not cumulative) Apprentices who have not ridden a *winner allowed 7lb Those who have not ridden three *winners allowed 4lb Those who have not ridden ten *winners allowed 2lb
