There is plenty of weight to come off me, I've done that weight a good few times, so it's unfortunate. I thought his Tramore run was improved but he was taking on an impossible on then. I said he had improved but he was 5lbs overweight so we were only hoping at the finish. It was great he got to run as he was nearly pulled out by the Stewards. We were in before them until the last minute and it was touch and go whether he'd be allowed run. It's unreal to have a winner again here- I think the last winner I had here I rode it myself! C.A. Landers, rider of Bellgrove trained by P.M. Cloke, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was flat out all the way

The Stewards received a report from Mr. P.L. Malone, Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that K.J. Brouder, rider of Seskin Flyer, presented himself at the scales to weigh out at 5lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer, Mr. Patrick Carey. Mr. Brouder stated that he fully expected to be able to do the weight but declared a possible +2lbs as a precaution. However on arrival at the track he found he was much heavier than this. Mr. Carey stated that he had been assured by Mr. Brouder there would be no problem with the weight apart from a possible one or two pounds overweight but in the circumstances he was happy for the rider to carry the extra overweight in the absence of any other conditional rider present capable of riding at this weight. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards allowed the rider to carry the overweight but were satisfied K.J. Brouder was in breach of Rule 198 (vii) and having taken his record in this regard into account, they imposed a fine of ?150.

An extended handicap steeplechase for four yrs old and upwards (123 = 11st 10lb)
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 11st 10lb
Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each such steeplechase won.
Riders - Confined to Professional under I.N.H.S. Rules who have not lost the right to claim the allowance under Rule 52 (iii). Allowances (up to and including 19th December and which are not cumulative) who have not ridden the winners of 25 *races allowed 4lb Those who have not ridden the winners of 40 *races allowed 2lb No allowance to riders under Rule 52 (iii) may be claimed.
