Oliver Sherwood could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance other than Leighton Aspell reporting that Seaston Spirit (GB) made a bad mistake at the first ditch and was never travelling thereafter.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, during routine testing shortly after the race, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
