An enquiry was held into why there was a delay in deploying the screens around an injured jockey, who had been unseated at the first fence in the first circuit of the race.
The Clerk of the Course and the Medical Officer were interviewed.
The Clerk of Course explained that the screens were not deployed at the request of the Medical Officer, who felt that given the location of the injured jockey, he wanted to delay erecting the screens in order to allow a clear line of sight of the loose horses to ensure they had passed without attempting to jump the final fence and for the safety of the medical team.
The Clerk of the Course added that after the race had finished and the riders had passed, the screens were deployed immediately.
Their comments were noted.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Cybalko (FR), placed fourth, lost its right hind shoe.
