The winner, Ruthless Article (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Exeter on 16 April 2021 where the gelding finished last of four runners, beaten by 30¾ lengths.
Rebecca Curtis explained that Ruthless Article (IRE) had appreciated the drop back in trip from 2 miles, 7 furlongs and 25 yards to 2 miles, 3 furlongs and 200 yards on this occasion.
Her comments were noted.
The performance of Outonpatrol (IRE), which started second favourite and finished last of the four finishers, was considered.
The representative of Alan King could offer no explanation for the mare’s performance; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Outonpatrol (IRE) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
