Review thurles 1st Dec

< Tully East emerged from the Thurles fog a good winner of the Killinan Beginners Chase.

Alan Fleming's gelding enjoyed a profitable novice hurdle campaign last term and was fourth in the Martin Pipe race at Cheltenham, but was only second favourite behind the red-hot Bachasson

Bachasson took the lead when the front-running Total Recall hit two out but was already headed by Tully East when departing at the last, and the 7-2 chance came five and a half lengths clear of A Sizing Network in the hands of Denis O'Regan.

Bachasson's trainer and jockey Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh were the beneficiaries of the final-flight tumble of Hardline in the Cahir Maiden Hurdle.

However, Riven Light (2-7 favourite) was travelling stronger when his rival crashed out and after coasting home 12 lengths ahead of La Bella Vida looks yet another exciting French import for the champion trainer.

Mullins and Walsh followed up when Aussie Reigns broke his jumping duck in the Holycross Maiden Hurdle.

A smart stayer on the level in the UK but only second on his timber bow at Fairyhouse, the 8-15 favourite showed superior acceleration between the last two to head Valgor Du Ronceray and then fended off the challenge of Montana Belle by two and a half lengths.< Kalopsia raised her game to a new level to claim top honours in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Hurdle.

Mark Walsh bided his time on the Joseph O'Brien-trained 7-2 chance but ate into Monbeg Rose s substantial lead early in the straight and had more in reserve to stretch 11 lengths away.

A pair of greys fought out the finish to the www.thurlesraces.ie Handicap Chase and despite nodding on landing when holding a slight advantage over the last, Mick The Jiver (7-1) found enough to keep Smadynium a neck at bay.< Balynaclash Warior (12-1) took the Templemore Handicap Hurdle, while Queeny (8-1) came out of the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle on top.
