Gordon Elliott saddled a one-two in the Ladbrokes Troytown Handicap Chase at Navan, with Riverside City denying Georges Conn
The well-fancied Empire Of Dirt was travelling strongly when capsizing three out, and five jumped the next almost in unison.< Ballychorus took it up but was being pressed when she came down at the last, enabling 8-1 shot Riverside City to seize the initiative, and he finished that little bit stronger than his stablemate to score by a length and three-quarters.
That gave young Jack Kennedy his first victory over fences and he also combined with Elliott with 2-1 favourite Baroque Style in the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust Handicap Hurdle and Prince Of Scars (9-2) in the Proudstown Handicap Hurdle to complete a memorable day.
The Troytown may have been the feature event but the undoubted equine star of the show was Douvan who made an impressive start to his fencing career in the Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Beginners Chase.
Last season's crack novice hurdler, who was sent off at 2-11, was kept out of trouble at the head of affairs by Ruby Walsh and, a chancey leap at the last aside, he was professional and is as short as 5-4 for the Arkle at Cheltenham after accounting for Rogue Trader by an easy nine and a half lengths.
His stable companion Augusta Kate also impressed, making it two wins from as many starts in the Listed Coolmore N.H. Sires E.B.F. Mares Flat Race.< Falcon Crest made it two from two over timber with an emphatic triumph in the Grade Two "Monksfield" Novice Hurdle.
Having made stealthy headway on to the heels of the leaders, the 100-30 chance was left with just Moylisha Tim to aim at once pacesetter Dallas Cowboy crashed out at the second-last, and he quickened well when Barry Geraghty asked him to register a six-and-a-half-length verdict.
Bumper winner Woodland Opera (11-4) maintained his unbeaten record on his jumping debut in the I.N.H. Stallion Owners E.B.F. Maiden Hurdle.
