She was given a late fright when Cailin Mor threw down a strong challenge in the closing stages but the 11-2 chance was always doing enough in front and held on by a neck.
There was a thrilling finish to the www.navanracecourse.ie (C & G) Maiden as Munshid just wore down hot favourite Al Mohalhal in the closing stages.
The latter came into this as the clear form pick and went down on his sword again, almost leading from pillar to post, but he could not repel the late thrust of the 3-1 winner who got up by a head.< Golden Raven justified strong market support when proving too smart for his more experienced rivals in the Follow Navan On Twitter Maiden.
The 11-10 market leader was waited with in the early stages and looked to have plenty on his plate when Valac made his way for home.
However, Mick Halford's gelding warmed to his task well and swept by inside the final furlong, eventually going on to win by a length and a quarter from McGuigan < Know (10-3 co-fav) put her experience to good use when opening her account under Billy Lee in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden while the jockey completed a double for the afternoon when bringing Mr Moondance (8-1) through with a well-timed challenge to take first prize in the Kilberry Handicap.< Ningxai won at odds of 6-1 when beating The Fox Tully by half a length in the Flower Hill Handicap while Elm Grove (14-1) took the Simonstown Handicap.
