Richard Hannon's runner tried to give chase, but Dawn Approach was far too strong at the finish, running on well to score by two and three-quarter lengths.
Hannon and Hughes gained quick compensation for that defeat when Sky Lantern took the Listed Coolmore Stud EBF Sprint Stakes.< True Verdict put up a real fight in the closing stages, but the 11-8 favourite was too strong close home, winning by a cosy half a length.
Ger Lyons' One Spirit showed a decent turn of foot and a willing attitude to land the Listed Owenstown Stud Stakes.
The 6-1 chance quickened into the lead at the furlong pole under Niall McCullagh, but looked vulnerable as Gordon Lord Byron charged into contention.
Tom Hogan's charge could never get on terms, however, and One Spirit kept on well to score by a length.
Brendan Duke's newcomer I'm Sheikra (8-1) just pipped Reaching to land the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden for fillies.< Sparkling View led for much of the race, but the leading duo took it up inside the final furlong and were difficult to split as they passed the post, with Rory Cleary's mount edging the verdict by a nose.
Bold Thady Quill looked to be struggling on the home turn in the www.thetote.com BBQ Evenings At Naas Handicap, but the 5-1 favourite finished with a real rattle under Shane Foley to beat Jamesie by half a length at the line.< Dark Passion (15-8) finished strongly to land the Paul Byrne Memorial Handicap under Emmett McNamara.
