Review limerick 4th May
Charlie Swan praised David Casey after the jockey had steered Porticcio to victory in the June 13th & 19th Twilight Racing Maiden Hurdle at Limerick.
Casey brought the 5-2 shot to lead at the second-last flight and despite a mistake at the final obstacle, the six-year-old got home by two and a half lengths from Plunkett
"The jockey was really good there. He got the favourite into a bit of a pocket and kept him on his inside," said the trainer.
"He likes the cut in the ground and I'll try to find a winners of one for him somewhere."< Max Speed (8-1) bounced back from a disappointing run when only eighth over hurdles at Sligo on Sunday to lift the Loughwood Creosote Fencing Handicap Chase under Johnny Allen.
"I was going to take him out yesterday. He didn't handle the heavy ground and conditions here aren't as bad," said owner-trainer Iggy Madden.
"He has plenty of ability but has bad legs. We just have to hope for the best these days.
"He'll have a little break and then run at Ballinrobe later this month."
Trainer Robert Tyner and jockey Paddy Flood teamed up to take the feature Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Beginners Chase with Askthemaster
The 11-2 shot held 25-1 outsider Tryptronic by four and a half lengths after going clear from two out.
