Review limerick 29th Mar
< Shebella (11-10 favourite) made an impressive winning debut for John Oxx and Johnny Murtagh in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at Limerick.< Susiescot took them along at a sensible clip but surrendered the lead over a furlong from home, with Ahaaly sweeping past.
But Murtagh was hot on her heels on the Aga Khan-owned daughter of Dubai Destination, and she powered home under hands-and-heels riding to edge the verdict by a neck.
The opening Students Of Limerick Race saw a thrilling battle between David Wachman's Precious Dream (5-4 favourite) and the Tommy Stack-trained Penniston Line with the former holding on by the narrowest of margins.
The pair had the four-runner event between them throughout, with the Wayne Lordan-ridden winner kicking on over two furlongs out and battling bravely to repel the gallant runner-up.
Lordan doubled up in the Jog For Jockeys 29th July (C & G) Median Auction Maiden, this time for Stack, on Croi An Or
The 11-4 chance showed a really good attitude to grind down market leader Diplomat and notch a length-and-a-quarter success.
Stack then completed a double of his own with the Shane Gray-ridden Cnocan Diva (3-1) in the limerickraces.ie Online Special Packages Handicap.
Not to be outdone, Chris Hayes also bagged a brace on the night. His first triumph came when Bankroll justified heavy support in the Tote Jackpot Handicap.
Andrew Oliver's five-year-old was backed into 7-2 from an earlier 14-1 and duly delivered a taking performance, setting out in front and simply drawing further clear up the straight. Landsdowne led the rest home, but was over four lengths in arrears at the line.
The "It's A Student's Life" Handicap saw Hayes in front again after guiding the John Walsh-trained The Four Elms (6-1) home from favourite East Of Tara while the concluding Limerick Run Maiden went to Ri An Domhnaigh for Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning.
