Review leopardstown 12th Feb
Willie Mullins suffered a couple of high-profile reverses on Leopardstown's rescheduled Hennessy Gold Cup card but took the feature event with Kempes (5/1).< China Rock stole a march on his pursuers when taking the lead off The Listener down the back for the final time, but Kempes had bridged the gap entering the straight.< Glencove Marina and Joncol gave chase, but Kempes responded well to David Casey's urgings and came home four and a half lengths in front.< Bostons Angel (8/1) prevailed in a dramatic Dr. P.J. Moriarty Novice Chase.< Quel Esprit was upsides the leaders when crashing out at the penultimate flight, hampering stablemate Mikael D'Haguenet
This left Bostons Angel and Magnanimity to fight it out, and Jessica Harrington's charge just held on by a head, with Mikael D'Haguenet an unfortunate third.
Harrington and jockey Robbie Power enjoyed a Grade One double when Oscars Well proved his last-start Navan success was no fluke in the Deloitte Novice Hurdle.
With some potential top-notchers in opposition, he was allowed to go off at 7/1 but cruised through to lead before the last, and then careered away up the run-in.
Hot favourite Zaidpour appeared to be caught a bit flat-footed before staying on into second, some five and a half lengths adrift of the impressive winner.< Unaccompanied bridged the gap up to the top level when carrying the Moyglare Stud colours home in front in the Tote Jackpot Races 3-6 Spring Juvenile Hurdle.
Dermot Weld's 5/2 favourite had scored well on her jumping bow at Punchestown and after travelling strongly throughout this contest, she took it up before the last and stayed on well to beat Sailors Warn by three lengths.< Golden Sunbird landed the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Handicap Hurdle as a 7/1 shot for Paul Nolan, while Peak Raider (3-1 favourite) took the paddypower.com iPhone App Handicap Hurdle for Tommy and Peter Carberry.
