Review killarney 11th May

Tue 11th May 2010, 20:30

David Marnane hit the jackpot on the Flat at Ascot on Saturday and put another one on the scoreboard when he switched his attention to the jumps at Killarney.

The County Tipperary trainer, whose Dandy Boy landed a famous victory in the Victoria Cup, won the O'Keeffe, O'Shea, O'Connor Solicitors Novice Chase with Hampstead Heath

The grey (8-1), a Tipperary winner on his fencing debut recently, tackled Gonebeyondrecall at the final fence and cleared away to score by seven lengths from Warcraft under amateur James Casey.

The Henry De Bromhead-trained Kotkidy was given a patient ride by Andrew Lynch to win the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase in promising style.

The French import ran freely when he fell over hurdles on his debut for the yard last month and he was dropped out at the rear this time before making stealthy progress.< Flag Of Honour tried to make all and was still in front jumping the last but Kotkidy (4-1), who had the help of earplugs, zipped past to score by three lengths.

David Casey was another in no rush as he delivered a well-timed challenge on Charlie Swan's 9-4 favourite Adajal to take the Cahernane House Hotel Handicap Chase.< Greengables led four out and made the best of her way home, but Casey was travelling sweetly and took over between the last two fences before winning cosily by three lengths.

John Oxx's Shareen was sent off the 11-4 favourite for the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden, but she needed all Fran Berry's cajoling to squeeze home.

Berry got her through a gap on the rail in the final furlong and in a tight three-way finish she edged out Spelterini by a head.

Gary Carroll led a furlong out on Desert Romance (10-1) and held off favourite Napa Starr by a short head in the Flesk Valley Rowing Club Hotel Handicap, while the Killarney Vintners Handicap went to Gordon Elliott's always prominent Thistimesforgood (14-1) under Declan McDonogh.
