Nina Carberry was out of luck with her first runner as a trainer as Peak Raider was pulled up in the Shamrock Handicap Chase at Gowran Park.

The race was won in grand style by Conor O'Dwyer's Competitive Edge (13-2), who powered home to score by six and a half lengths from Orpheus Valley

Jockey Mark Walsh was completing a double in the JP McManus colours, having earlier won on Enda Bolger's impressive Marlbrook who made a victorious debut under Rules in the 'Tetratema - Son Of The Tetrarch' Maiden Hurdle.

The five-year-old was an easy winner of a point-to-point in January and proved a cut above his rivals.

Sent off the 4-9 favourite, the gelding gradually pulled further and further clear to beat All Day Long also owned by McManus, by 17 lengths.

Bolger was pleased it signalled his horses were in form ahead of the Festival next week after a few disappointments elsewhere in his team.< Wing It Lady won the Goresbridge Hurdle for trainer Jimmy Coogan.

The 6-1 favourite had finished third on her handicap debut last month and was recording a first win for her handler since last July.< Lughnasa opened her account over hurdles in the Great Oak Maiden Hurdle for Robert Tyner and jockey Philip Enright.

Having taken up the running at the second-last and forged clear, the winning distance was eight lengths.< Novarov (8-1) gave John O'Shea and Sean McDermott a return to the winners' enclosure in the Support Kilkenny GAA Raceday On 23rd March At Gowran Park Beginners Chase.< Castle Wings tried hard to hold on, but Novarov's stamina kicked in on the run-in and he collared the leader to score by three-quarters of a length.< Mossey Joe (13-8 favourite) is not the most reliable of characters but he has undoubted talent and he showed it in the Tetratema Perpetual Cup Hunters Chase, winning easily by 19 lengths.
