Review gowran park 10th Aug
Dermot Weld will have high hopes for Adool after she claimed Listed honours in the feature race at Gowran Park, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Hurry Harriet Stakes.
The 7-4 favourite was making only third career start, having finished third in the Group Three Meld Stakes last month, but she knuckled down really well to beat Santa Monica by half a length.
The latter looked set to collect when striking the front but Adool, who was overcoming a tricky draw out in stall 13, picked up really well once finding her stride and put her head in front to win a shade cosily.
The decent pot on offer for the McEnery Cup Handicap went the way of My Direction (5-1) as he saw off Xebec by a length and a half.
Xebec made a fine fist of things from the front, only surrendering his lead inside the final furlong as My Direction got the better of a sustained duel to land the spoils for local trainer Ellmarie Holden.< Legitimus continued the fine recent form of the Jim Bolger stable when running out a convincing winner of the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.
The daughter of Lawman made little impact on debut but was a completely different proposition on this occasion, breaking smartly from stall two and setting a fair gallop from the outset.
Despite the attentions of Pennsylvania throughout, the 8-1 chance found plenty for pressure when asked to put the race to bed and came right away in the closing stages to record an impressive three and three quarter length success.
The subsequent Join The Gowran Park Racing Club For 100 Euro Nursery provided racegoers with a much closer finish as Sweetasever (11-1) just got up to deny Dandys Gold by a neck while Lady Fandango (6-1) recorded the same winning distance when taking the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap.
