Review dundalk 13th Jan
Fergal Lynch got back into the winning groove on the all-weather track at Dundalk with his first victories since trying his luck in Ireland.
The jockey, who cannot ride in Britain but has a Spanish licence, opened his account on the David Marnane-trained Harry Trotter and quickly followed up on stablemate Almadaa
It was plain sailing for Harry Trotter (4-9 favourite), who was up with the pace all the way in the Dundalk Maiden and took charge at the top of the straight before holding Atticus Finch by half a length.
Almadaa (4-1 joint-favourite) then eased up to the leaders in the straight in the first division of the Group Discounts At Dundalk Handicap and smoothly drew clear to win by two and a quarter lengths, belying the fact that it was his first victory in 27 attempts.
The second division went to Lee Smyth's veteran Richelieu (4-1), who avoided trouble on the inner as he spurted down the outside under Chris Hayes to score by three lengths.
The money arrived for Tommy Stack's challenger Kedleston in the Follow Dundalk On Facebook Handicap and the 7-4 favourite obliged with a commanding success.
Wayne Lordan held the advantage turning into the straight and the three-year-old stretched right away to score by five and a half lengths, with market rival Merkel never in the hunt.
Champion trainer Aidan O'Brien got off the mark for the year with his first runner when his son Joseph delivered Flavia Tatiana with a late challenge in the www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap.
Settled in last for much of the way, the 4-1 shot was short of room coming down the straight but the jockey angled her out in plenty of time and the filly won by two and a quarter lengths.
Johnny Murtagh took the dundalkstadium.com Optional Claiming Maiden on Eddie Lynam's Aragorn Rouge (5-4 favourite), who collared long-time leader Danick Of Time at the furlong pole and forged clear to win by a length.
