Review curragh 6th Jun

Sat 6th Jun 2009, 20:00

Michael Halford was delighted to see rain at the Curragh and it helped Deauville Vision take the feature Mogeely Stud Silver Stakes in style.

The mare, who is in foal to Kheleyf, was settled close behind the leaders by Rory Cleary and took over with a furlong and a half to go.

A 10-1 shot, she ran on strongly for a comfortable success by two and a half lengths from She's Our Mark in the Listed contest.< Intapeace stepped up considerably on her unplaced debut run to get the Frank Ennis team off the mark for the season in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden.

All eyes were on the regally bred Ballydoyle challenger Famous a full-sister to Irish 2000 Guineas winner Mastercraftsman, and she put up a respectable performance in second.

Danny Mullins sent Intapeace (25-1) into the lead with two furlongs to go and she forged steadily clear to win by seven lengths, with Famous running on nicely for runner-up spot.< Alexander Youth hadn't been seen since last July but there was no sign of ring-rust as she ran out a convincing winner of the 20% Savings At www.curragh.ie Maiden.

Wayne Lordan had her poised nicely on the outside as the race reached the business end and he waited patiently before pressing the button.

The David Wachman-trained filly (8-1) quickened away nicely to score by three and a half lengths from Norse Warrior with favourite Douze Points third after holding every chance.< Mountain Coral (10-1) has been in cracking form on the all-weather for Frank Oakes and translated that to turf when landing the Furey Brothers Play Derby Friday Handicap, hitting the front two furlongs out and holding on by half a length under Niall McCullagh.

The Legal And Credit Management Services Handicap went to top-weight Beidh Tine Anseo (7-2), who led a furlong and a half out and ran on strongly to bring minor compensation for Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning after the poor performance of Gan Amhras in the Epsom Derby.
