Review curragh 4th Jun
Kevin Manning made the dash from Epsom to the Curragh worthwhile as Carraiglawn (7-2) continued on the upgrade in the Silver Stakes.
Jim Bolger's three-year-old had bumped into two useful sorts earlier in the season but finally broke his maiden at Navan only six days ago.
Despite being out of luck with Akdarena in the Oaks at Epsom, Manning jetted back and the hint should have been taken as he beat Choose Me by a length.< Address Unknown did Midas Touch's supporters in the Derby no favours by bitterly disappointing.
"He won his maiden very easily last week and he handled the ground very well," said Manning.
"I think when he steps up in trip we'll see him in an even better light.
"Jim has always thought a lot of him and has him well entered.
"He's very progressive and I'm sure we'll see plenty more of him, a step up in trip might help him too."
Bolger confirmed that the Irish Derby would now be on his agenda.
"Carraiglawn did it well, is an improving horse and will now run in the Irish Derby," he said.
Carraiglawn is a half-brother to Soldier Of Fortune, who won the Irish Derby himself in 2007.
Aidan O'Brien's Bright Horizon still engaged in the Investec Derby until Thursday's declaration stage, provided young jockey John Reid with only his second winner in the Evening Herald - The Dubliner on Thursday Handicap.
His role in the Classic would have purely been as a pacemaker but he showed his level of ability by getting up close home to beat Knight Eagle
"That's my second winner & ndash; my first was Utrillo (for O'Brien) at Tipperary last October and this was my 17th ride," said Reid.
Kevin Prendergast's Seeharn landed a gamble in the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden on her debut.
Backed from 8-1 into 15-8 favouritism, Declan McDonogh's mount will head for a Listed race on Irish Derby day next.
