Review curragh 26th Jun
Jessica Harrington sprung a major surprise when she sent out newcomer Long Lashes to take the Ballygallon Stud Stakes at the Curragh.
The filly, who was the only unraced contender in the Listed contest, was sitting pretty behind the leaders under Fran Berry as they entered the final stages.
As soon as a gap appeared the 25-1 shot was through it and she asserted in style to beat Elusive Galaxy by two and a half lengths.
Kevin Prendergast's debutant Kingsfort was well-supported for the Kildare Village EBF Maiden and did his reputation a power of good with a superb performance.
As Shintoh led them into the final quarter-mile Kingsfort (100-30) was clearly going best, and it was a question of whether he could produce a turn of foot when required.
He answered in some style when Declan McDonogh pressed the button, going clear to score by two lengths from another promising newcomer, Stunning View with the Ballydoyle-trained favourite Viscount Nelson running on well for third.
Johnny Murtagh put Cabaret s experience to good use as she ran out a ready winner of the Kildare Village EBF Fillies Maiden for the Aidan O'Brien team.
The daughter of Galileo, runner-up on her Leopardstown debut a fortnight ago, was never out of the first two and was kept company by Jim Bolger's newcomer Roan Inish
Nothing else ever got into the race and Cabaret (5-4 favourite) pulled clear in the final furlong to score by three and a half lengths, with the rest well beaten off.
Shane Foley captured the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Derby, delivering a withering run on the Tom Hogan-trained Spinning Wings (8-1) to demolish the opposition.
Favourite Sheridaniya led into the final two furlongs on the rails, but the race developed nearer the centre of the course as Spinning Wings was stoked up to charge clear by five and a half lengths.
