Mr Cosmopolitan got back up on the run-in to the line, though, landing the spoils by three-quarters of a length.< All The Way Home (6-1) took advantage of his light weight to come out on top in the Bishop Auckland Theatre Hooligans Handicap Chase for trainer Liz Doyle and jockey Sean Flanagan.
Eoghan O'Grady's Clara More (10-1) proved the strongest of a group of five in with a shout at the last in the Kilmolash (QR) Handicap Hurdle, while the Powerstown Flat Race went the way of 20-1 chance De Name Escapes Me ridden and trained by Liz Lalor.
