Review ballinrobe 21st Sep
Ruby Walsh rode his rivals to sleep as Call It Magic s success in the Eamon Sheridan Groundworks Chase sealed a Ballinrobe brace for the jockey.
Walsh was allowed to dictate terms to suit himself on the Ross O'Sullivan-trained 4-1 chance, who was at least 10 lengths clear at halfway.< Net D'Ecosse and The Gatechecker got to within striking distance but Call It Magic, in first-time blinkers, still had plenty more to offer and went away again to beat Net D'Ecosse by 11 lengths.< Nellie Pledge turned out for the John Mulhern Mares Handicap Hurdle three days after finishing third at Galway, but her impressive victory proved how well she is taking her racing.
Brian Cawley's 3-1 chance set sail for home on the top turn and although Kilganer Queen attempted to go with her, Nellie Pledge was only just hitting top gear and strode four lengths clear.< Court Artist got her career back on track under Walsh with a dominant performance in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Maiden Hurdle.
Beaten on her timber bow at the start of the month, Willie Mullins' 7-4 favourite made headway to touch down over the last in a share of the lead with Now Let Go before pulling 10 lengths clear of The Rap Queen < Azua Emery was all the rage for the On-Course Vets 3-Y-O Maiden Hurdle but had to settle for second behind Foxy Lass (14-1).
Gordon Elliott's 1-2 favourite led from the off but Foxy Lass was never too far away and wore down the French import in the final 100 yards to prevail by half a length.
Winning trainer/jockey Denis Hogan doubled up courtesy of Eiri Na Casca (3-1) in the Yupana Inc. California Handicap Hurdle.< Theatre Run collared Bad Cigar in the shadows of the post to claim top honours in the Tuam Herald Handicap Hurdle, while Off The Charts took the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Chase and Nina Carberry made a successful comeback on Cask Mate in the Connacht Tribune Flat Race.
