Zarinsk made all the running under Colin Keane to give trainer Ger Lyons a second successive win in the Group 3 Darley Irish EBF Brownstown Stakes(Fillies & Mares) at Fairyhouse.
The County Meath trainer who sent out Marbling to win the 2022 renewal doubled up with the Judmonte owned daughter of Kodiac. Indeed, Lyons has made this race a major target each season, winning on five occasions since 2010.
Recent French Listed race winner American Sonja had been expected to throw down a strong challenge but the Lyons trained filly had no problem in upholding their form from Leopardstown in May.
Keane sent his mount straight into the lead from the off, dictating the pace before winding it up from over 2f out. Dylan Browne McMonagle was hard at work on American Sonja in behind, struggling to get to second placed Cigamia
It was the latter filly, trained by Willie McCreery, who kept on best to hold the second spot with the O'Brien runner back in third.
Ger Lyons said, “She’s a queen and seven furlongs around a bend is made for her. She’s honest out and is holding the yard together this year.
“She holds an entry in the Matron and it’s all about black type for Juddmonte. I’m delighted for them and their support.
“She’s not really ground dependant but doesn’t want extremes. She doesn’t want heavy and she doesn’t want firm.
“She’s very straight forward as you could see there. If you wanted to make a race for her that was it.”
