Zane Grey ran out a cosy winner of the two-mile handicap hurdle at Wexford for trainer Henry de Bromhead.

Chinook Run cut out the running in the 80-95 event but looked a sitting duck as Zane Grey loomed large from before the straight.

Andrew Lynch sent his mount on before the final flight and he kept on strongly on the run-in to post a nine length margin over the front-runner, who had blundered through the last.

The 12/1 winner had shown some improvement when a non-threatening third at Clonmel last month and the Flemensfirth gelding was stepping up again to open his account this evening.

“I'm delighted. He had been very disappointing. He had a great run in a bumper last year but all he has done since is disappoint,” said de Bromhead.

“Out of desperation we decided to run him on the good ground and surprisingly, being by Flemensfirth, he handled it so well. Andrew said he hopped off it.

“If he handles here he'll handle Tramore so he'll go there next.”

De Bromhead added that he is delighted with the form of his string:- "Things are going great at the moment."

Glendaars Best who was supported from 7/2 into 9/4 favourite cried enough three from home and weakened to finish ninth.
