Zaminast scores Weld's fifth Galway winner
Dermot Weld registered his fifth winner at this year's Galway Festival today when his Zaminast under Pat Smullen, arrived late to win the win the Caulfieldindustrial.com EBF Fillies Maiden.
50/1 shot and eventual runner-up Ballybracka Lady held a good lead for much of the straight , and while she matched at 1.11 in-running, Zaminast flew home to 'get up' by what ended up being a cosy half length win.
Afterwards Weld stated “Zaminast is potentially a very good filly and showed guts and determination to win today. She is a half-sister to Famous Name and will have one more run as a two year old, in either the Moyglare Stakes or the C.L. Weld Park Stakes.”
