Pat Foley gained compensation for the narrow defeat of Rebel Gold earlier on the card when Youralwaysdreamin landed the Doherty Woodshavings INH Flat Race at Limerick.
The well-backed 9/2 chance (from 8/1) had shown promise in two previous bumper outings at Wexford and Clonmel, and was again ridden by Mikey McGuane. Battle Frontier made most of the running and looked set to score when still two lengths up over a furlong out.
However, he folded quickly after Foley’s charge struck the front inside the final 150 yards.
Youralwaysdreamin went on to score by a length and a half from Memories Never Die with 5/4 favourite Boulon Trou keeping on a further half-a-length back in third.
Foley said, “He is tough and is really a 2m4f horse but today's race was 2m2f and I knew he'd go on that ground. We thought about going hurdling after his last run but with the ground being what it is, we ran here and were quietly confident.
"His form has been pretty good but he has improved a lot from Clonmel to here. I wouldn't be surprised if he improved again because he is only figuring out about racing now and the family were slow to come to hand.
"We'll go over hurdles now.
"Rebel Gold was second for us in the Tim Duggan earlier and we were close to having a double but he ran a cracker. We had just the two runners over Christmas and won't have runners again until the new year."
