Young scores with Surprise Vendor
The Lesley Young trained Surprise Vendor justified favouritism when coming home in front of the Railway Bar 3-Y-0 Hurdle in the hands of Ruby Walsh.
Winning trainer Young said afterwards: “The plan was always to come here today. He beat Spinning Wings who won the previous race today, in his maiden at Clonmel.”
“He jumps really well, he’s still a bit green but he should improve from that and we’ll probably go for a winner’s of one next.”
The winner was not a straghtforward ride and benefitted from the experienced Ruby Walsh in the saddle.
The unlucky loser of the race was the Paul Deegan trained Ravati who was hampered at the start and lost about 20 lengths but still managed to finish second.
