The www.tramoreraces.ie Maiden Hurdle went to Young Fitzy at odds of 11/4.
Having been settled in mid-division by Darragh O’Keeffe, the Mustameet gelding moved up to dispute the lead with She Is A Contender (7/1) racing to the second-last flight.
He kept on well to get the better of that rival by a length with the 5/2 favourite Gaelic Des Chastys another five lengths away in third.
The winner had finished sixth in her two previous starts over hurdles.
Declan Queally, assistant to his father, winning trainer Declan senior, said: "That was great. The (Bitter Sweet) syndicate, who are from Galway, have been patient with the horse.
"This race looked a nice opportunity and it's great that it worked out. We will see what sort of handicap mark he gets now and go from there. The syndicate actually bought him off of Shane Fitzgerald so he will be delighted as well.
"We fancied him today and I let Darragh (O'Keeffe) take the pressure rather than riding him myself!"
