Youceeyouceecee (5/1f) sluiced home on the stands' side to capture division one of the 45-65 handicap over seven furlongs in the Curragh.
Paddy Harnett 's mount really found for pressure and came to claim Breaking News inside the final furlong.
The eight-year-old gelding, who is a confirmed mudlark, toughed it out on the attritional ground and saw off fast-finishing Miss Adventurous (20/1) by half a length.
Another 20/1 shot, Patchouli was the same distance back in third. Southwood (40/1) ensured his backers got a place dividend in fourth.
Trainer Susan Finn said: “Paddy gets a great tune out of him and the 7lb (claim) made a difference there today.
“He has to have the ground sloppy. He's a great old servant and that's his seventh win now. He hasn't been over-raced.
“I fancied him today but he had to battle for it. The owner is out in Lanzarote in 37 degrees.
“He's in two races on Friday. One is over six furlongs but it's a 50-80 and might be a grade too high. The problem is he doesn't really get the mile but he might get it if he's held up.
“I might think about the mile race. It depends how tacky the ground gets if it dries up.”
